Clinical Supervision for Therapists
Good consultation is more than a box to check - it's the steady relationship that helps you become the clinician you want to be. Whether you're deepening your trauma work, thinking through a complex case, or simply craving a thoughtful place to think out loud, consultation should feel supportive, never evaluative. At Shifting Tides, supervision is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in real clinical practice — room to bring your hardest cases and feel genuinely supported.

What Is Clinical Supervision?
Clinical supervision is structured, ongoing guidance from an experienced LCSW as you sharpen your skills, think through your cases, and grow in confidence. It's part skill-building, part case consultation, and part professional support — a regular space to review your work, navigate ethical questions, and sharpen your clinical judgment. Supervision can be one-to-one or in a small peer group, and here it's offered virtually.
Our Approach & Background
Shifting Tides was founded by Deanna Doherty, LCSW. Deanna has spent years training and mentoring newer clinicians, with a focus on trauma, EMDR, and IFS-informed work. Supervision here is warm and non-shaming — the kind of space where you can say what you don't know yet and grow from it.

Frequently Asked Questions Clinical Supervision
What is clinical supervision?
What's the difference between supervision, consultation, and mentorship?
Structured, ongoing guidance from an experienced LCSW as you build your skills and grow in clinical confidence.
Supervision is formal oversight that counts toward licensure; consultation is collaborative case support for already-licensed clinicians; mentorship is broader professional guidance. We offer all three.
How do I find the right clinical supervisor near me?
Because supervision is virtual, you're not limited to your town — choose a supervisor whose specialty fits your goals anywhere in NY, CT, or FL.
Do you offer virtual clinical supervision?
Yes. All supervision is available virtually. We will discuss with you the frequency of the meetings, the topics you especially want to dive into and any concerns that worry you.
