SEXUAL
ADDICTION
Sexual addiction is a taboo topic, and many end up suffering alone and never looking for help due to feelings of shame and embarrassment. What is sex addiction? Although not yet recognized by the DSM, sexual addiction is rising due to easy access to the internet. Sexual addiction, like any other addiction, happens when a person cannot cut down or feels they cannot control engagement in sexual behaviors (pornography, seeking escorts, dangerous sexual behaviors, etc) to the point where functioning is impacted. This may look like no longer being able to have meaningful sexual relationships outside of pornography or other types of sexual behavior, finding that your marriage/ other close relationships are being impacted, function at work is being impacted, or financial strain has occurred due to the addiction. You are not alone. I realized early on in my work with addiction that this was an area of addiction that was rising and needed more attention. I will help you to take control of your life again and understand the root cause of what brought you here.
